Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, is known for its secular architecture and its strong culture (of Chinese, French and all of Southeast Asian influences). In its center is the chaotic old quarter, where the narrow streets are roughly arranged by traders. There are many small temples and you can stumble across the Dong Xian market, selling household items and street food.
1ST DAY IN HANOI
The first day in Hanoi will be dedicated to the discovery of the Hoan Kiem lake area (the smallest). Located in the center of the city, a stroll in the vicinity of the lad is ideal for understanding Hanoi a little better. From there you can visit the famous “Ngoc Son” pagoda and cross its famous wooden bridge. Then head to the cathedral “Saint Joseph” also known as “Our Lady of Southeast Asia”. Saint Joseph is the heritage of French domination over the country. After visiting the cathedral, take a stroll through the old quarter. If you are there around 3 p.m. you can watch the train pass, it’s a beautiful spectacle. End this day with dinner at Dong Xuan Market.
2ND DAY IN HANOI
This second day in Hanoi is necessary if you want to discover the rest of the main attractions of the city, such as the mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh, The pagoda “Môt Côt” or pagoda with a single pillar and its small Botanical Garden, the famous Citadel of Hanoi , the incredible and magnificent Temple of Literature… and many more. For the evening, we recommend the old quarter and its many restaurants to delight you with many local specialties .
3RD DAY IN HANOI
For this last day, we will move away from the center: start by visiting the famous Tran Quoc pagoda, located on the outskirts of the city (between West Lake and Hoan Kiem Lake). On the way back, stop to discover the curious house of Ho Chi Minh and cross the gardens of the presidential palace. Finish off in style by attending a puppet show at the famous water puppet theater.
