A BIT OF HISTORY ON THE TRAIN IN VIETNAM
The development of the railway in Vietnam dates back to French colonial times, when the line connecting the two most important cities of the country (Hanoi and Saigon) was inaugurated in 1936. This line mainly served for the transport of goods between the north and the south of the country until the division of the country in 1954 (after the expulsion of the French). After the civil war and the political events which devastated the country, the line was reopened in 1976, connecting again Hanoi and Saigon become Ho Chi Minh .

Taking the train in a foreign country is in a sense traveling with the history of the country.
